Product Info
Incorporating plant sterols into a functional food product or nutritional supplement presents the option of a 100% natural ingredient that may aid in lowering blood serum cholesterol levels. Organic Technologies plant sterol and sterol ester products can be used in a variety of food and nutritional supplement applications, or can be esterified to produce the lower-melting, fat-soluble ester form of plant sterols that can be more easily incorporated into creams, spreads, yogurts, milks and other foods.
OS-95 – Small waxy beads of plant sterols of about 300-400 microns in diameter.
Sometimes used directly in compression tableting for cholesterol-reducing nutritional supplements, or esterified with vegetable fatty acids to produce sterol esters.
OS-95P – Finely ground micronized plant sterols with an L99 less than 50 microns and L50 less than 25 microns.
Small particle size results in exceptional mouthfeel characteristics. Micronized sterols can be used directly in juice, milk, and water dispersions; they can also be incorporated into powdered bakery and cereal applications where cholesterol reduction is a desired product attribute.
OSE-95 – Smooth buttery paste combining plant sterols with a vegetable fatty acid to lower melting point and disperse easily into foods, creams and spreads.
Sterol esters can be directly used in margarine spreads, yogurt drinks/shots without affecting taste, odor, or mouthfeel of the products. Sterol Esters are the predominant delivery form of sterols into food products worldwide. The standard OSE-95 product incorporates a sunflower fatty acid for melting point and unsaturation characteristics. However, for custom orders, any vegetable fatty acid (soy, canola, rapeseed, coconut, palm) can be incorporated to tailor the sterol ester product to your particular product needs.
TSE-95 – Identical to the OSE-95 sterol ester product, in use and product characteristics.
This product incorporates a non-GMO sterol from pine tree sources.
